Core Web Vitals are a set of specific measurements Google uses to judge how a page performs for real visitors. You don't need to become a performance engineer to understand them — but a basic grasp helps you prioritize what actually matters.

The three core measurements

• Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) — how long it takes the main content of a page to become visible. Slow LCP usually means large, unoptimized images or slow hosting.
• Interaction to Next Paint (INP) — how quickly the page responds when a visitor taps or clicks something. Heavy, unnecessary scripts are the usual culprit here.
• Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) — how much the page visually jumps around as it loads. Ads and images without reserved space are a common cause — and an important one, since this directly affects ad-related layout stability once you're monetized.
